Non-heat treated alloys refer to alloys that, through special alloy formulations, can achieve desired mechanical properties without the need for heat treatment after completion of the die casting process. This avoids deformation of the workpiece caused by heat treatment processes such as high-temperature solution treatment and aging. As of 2021, both domestic and foreign companies, including American Aluminum, German Rhein, Tesla, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, NIO, and Lianzhong Group, are developing and promoting non-heat treated materials, enabling the possibility of integral die casting.
SJTU-A-Mg-Si-Mn alloy is a heat-treatment-free die-casting alloy developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University with the aim of improving yield strength while maintaining good material toughness. Currently, Al-Si and Al-Mg alloys generally have moderate strength and toughness. With the increasing demand for integrated and lightweight aluminum alloy die-cast structural components, the development of new die-casting alloys should focus on improving yield strength or toughness while also having good castability.
